The upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, has received an exciting update.
According to TVLine, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed during a Q4 earnings call that the next Game of Thrones spin-off series is scheduled for release in late 2025.
The highly anticipated show is based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, which take place 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
The story follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg in the richly imagined world of Westeros.
While casting details for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has not yet been revealed, fans are eagerly awaiting news about who will bring these beloved characters to life.
The official synopsis for the series reads: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.”
“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
The series, announced in April 2023, is written and executive produced by Martin himself, along with Ira Parker. Ryan Condal, the showrunner for House of the Dragon, and Vince Gerardis also serve as executive producers.
This spin-off will be the second in the Game of Thrones universe, following the success of House of the Dragon, which is set to air its second season in the summer of 2024 after a gripping debut in August 2022.
Several more Game of Thrones spin-offs are currently in development, promising to keep fans immersed in the epic world of Westeros for years to come.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is expected to debut on Max sometime in late 2025.
