Hachiko, an Akita dog born around 1921-1923 in Japan, symbolized unwavering loyalty. In 1924, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor at Tokyo Imperial University, brought him to live in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Following Ueno’s death in 1925, Hachiko faithfully waited for his return at Shibuya Station daily for over nine years, captivating the Japanese people with his remarkable loyalty.
In 1934, a bronze statue was erected at Shibuya Station in Hachiko’s honor. Although Hachiko passed away in 1935, his legacy of loyalty continues to inspire people globally.
