After taking home some top honors at the annual CMA Awards in November of 2019, Blake Shelton gave credit to the big guy upstairs – and for much more than you might think.
In an interview with The Tennessean, Shelton opens up about his radio hit “God’s Country” that stayed at the top for multiple weeks and earned him a CMA Award. He also spoke about the tenderness of life, its frailty, and his deep gratitude for the one he’s been blessed with – and that includes his one and only: Gwen Stefani.
As the hit singer and beloved Voice coach explained to the outlet, he felt like his career in music was slipping, just shortly before he heard “God’s Country” for the very first time.
“‘How am I going to feel when this goes away?’” Blake recalled thinking. “I was kind of having that pity party.”
Then, it all turned around. And Blake says he found God.
“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” Shelton told The Tennessean. “The biggest part of that is just how [Gwen] came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”
After more than five years together, the two have developed an amazing relationship and bond that can be seen in every single interaction – a simple spark that is visible no matter who is looking and in the fall of 2020, they were engaged!
Blake and Gwen spend their time both at his farm in Oklahoma and a home in Los Angeles.
