Speaking to Deadline at the recent Golden Globes, Jin said: “We always pitched the season to buyers as an anthology series. There was always going to be new characters. Whether it stays limited or turns as an anthology or we continue existing, that’s really up to Netflix. But whatever they decide, I’m definitely ready.”
Prior to this, Jin told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’d love to make more. We initially pitched the show as an anthology series where every season is a new beef with new characters.

“At the same time, I really love Danny and Amy and George and Paul [Young Mazino] and the world we created. So, I’m really open to it all. Most importantly, I really want to keep working with this crew that I’ve really fallen in love with. But it’s hard for me to say which direction we’ll go without a writers room and any sort of momentum, so I’m really hoping the AMPTP comes to its senses.”
Although the finale wrapped the story up in a nice little bow, Jin told Rolling Stone: “I wanted it to have a conclusive feel just in case, but there are a lot of ideas on my end to keep this story going.

“I think should we be blessed with a Season 2, there’s a lot of ways for Danny and Amy to continue. I have one really big general idea that I can’t really say yet, but I have three seasons mapped out in my head currently.”
He also told Elle: “Cards on the table, we did pitch this show as a limited anthology, so there is sort of a close-ended-ness to the story [of Danny and Amy]. But, if given the opportunity, of course, I’d love to explore them further, because Danny and Amy, I love those characters. But yeah, by design, though, this a close-ended narrative.”

Though Netflix has been known to be a little unpredictable with its renewal schedule, generally it’ll wait at least a month in order to take stock of those crucial first 28 days.
Ultimately, it’ll come down to stats – how long did it stay in the top 10 chart? And do the viewing figures and revenue outweigh the cost of production? These are all questions Netflix will be able to answer – once it does, we’ll be sure to keep this post updated.

What’s certain is that Beef has gone down a treat with the critics, with Entertainment.ie going as far as to saying it’s “the best original show on Netflix in years.” Elsewhere, Inverse wrote: “Beef has all the teeth of today’s most withering social satires, and more perspective and wit than most ‘eat the rich’ thrillers.”
However, the show has been mired in controversy due to allegations against its cast member David Choe, which you can read more about here. Whether or not this has impacted a renewal is yet to be seen.

Who could star in Beef Season 2?
Although creator Lee Sung Jin made it clear that he hopes that Cho and Yeun will return in Season 2, no casting has been confirmed as of this writing.
According to a new report by Deadline, the second season of Beef may feature two feuding couples. Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny are being eyed to play one couple, while Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are reportedly the top choices to play the other couple.
For now, though, since a second season has not been officially confirmed, it’s unlikely any casting decisions will be announced soon.
